HOT-DIP GALVANIZING PROTECTS

Hot-dip galvanizing is a corrosion protection technique that is both reliable and modern at the same time.

One would think that due to its high efficiency, one could scarcely improve upon zinc as a corrosion protection technique. However, there have been dynamic developments over the past few years. Its spectrum of innovations ranges from the introduction of modern, environmentally friendly technologies to the opening up of new fields of application. In Germany alone, hot-dip galvanizing processes are used to protect far more than 1.3 million tons of steel from corrosion every year.

Hot-dip galvanized steel can withstand considerable mechanical stress and provides protection from corrosion for many years without the necessity of maintenance. Another advantage provided by hot-dip galvanized steel is the all-round protection for hollow bodies such as pipes, which are protected against corrosion not only from the outside but also from the inside. In addition to this, hot-dip galvanizing preserves the metallic surface look of steel, a characteristic feature that many architects wish to emphasize.

Currently, the process of hot-dip galvanizing reinforced steel is assuming greater significance in the construction sector. This is because older concrete constructions sometimes have considerable corrosion problems which could have been prevented by hot-dip galvanizing the steel bars.

Despite this, in Germany alone corrosion is still accountable for economic losses amounting to 90 billion euros every year.

This economically problematic wastage could be drastically reduced by more hot-dip galvanizing.

Hot-dip galvanizing is the best way of protecting steel from corrosion. It goes a long way towards providing enduring protection for bridges, railings, safety fences, and overhead gantry signs as well as for balconies and staircases, to name but a few examples.
