ZINC ENHANCES BEAUTY

Regardless of whether outside or inside – zinc leaves its distinctive mark. Did you know, for example, that hood ornaments are manufactured by means of zinc diecasting?

Or were you aware that entirely new designing options are enabled by new production processes using soldering material made of zinc? Let’s take a look inside a car! Indoors you’ll find door handles, levers, control elements, instrument borders, decorative strips and screens made of zinc, the greatest part of which even have refined surfaces. Sporty, distinctive looks are guaranteed. If you choose the proper finishing, finger prints on metal surfaces are hardly visible. This is called the touch free effect.

Top: Brand names, control elements – regardless of whether you prefer sporty and distinctive or discreet or even elegant looks – are often made of zinc.

Top right: Door handle, interior, Porsche Cayenne

Left: Cool touch so that what looks like metal also feels like metal.

Things are meant to feel the way they look.

Picture an eye-catching metal optic switch or lever. However, as soon as you touch it you feel a sense of anticlimax because the object looks great but actually feels like a cheap alternative.

This is another reason for using zinc here. By its “cool touch” zinc reinforces the authenticity and validity of the object’s design.

CURRENT INFORMATION
ZINKNEWS 05/2007
Zinc is a special element employed in automotive engineering. Safety-belt components, hood ornaments, door handles, toggle switches or levers, hot-dip galvanized chassis as well as visual and design components in car interiors often consist of zinc gained from the diecasting process.
